Yannos G. Lolos. Emeritus Professor of Prehistoric Archaeology at the University of Ioannina, was born in Athens in 1953. He studied Classics at the University of Cincinnati (Ohio, U.S.A.) and received his Ph.D. in Archaeology from the University of London (1985). Since 1994/1995 he has been directing the University of Ioannina Excavations in Salamis. He is also co-director of the Underwater Research in Salamis (since 2016) and Director of the University of Ioannina Research Project in North Ithaca (since 2018). He served as President of the Hellenic Institute of Marine Archaeology (H.I.M.A.) for 22 years (2000-2022). His published work on Prehistoric, Classical and Underwater Archaeology includes a number of books and co-edited volumes and over 100 articles in scientifi c journals, conference proceedings and collective volumes.
