The journal is proposed as a place of research and open debate, democratic, boundaries and on a strictly scientific basis alien to dogmatism and factions. In addition, since the time is ripe to overcome unsatisfactory definitions and artificial bureaucratic fences that arose in specific historical, political and cultural moments, whose intrinsic scientific weakness is now clearer than it was in the past, Codex was born with a strong interdisciplinary vocation of the sciences of jurisprudence and antiquity, as evidenced by the subtitle Giornale romanistico di studi giuridici politici e sociali (Journal of legal, political and social studies of the ancient Roman world) . In the hopes of the Editors, aware of the high value of interdisciplinarity, which is unfortunately still more declaimed than accomplished, the commitment will be to make Codex a small but concrete example of a bright teaching of Karl Popper, according to which we are not scholars of certain subjects but of problems and these, with their inherent incoercibility, cross the boundaries of any subject or discipline.
Codex is published annually. The publication of articles, notes, reviews proposed to the Editors observes the criteria for scientific evaluation adopted by the Italian university authorities (double-blind peer review).
