Series founded and edited by Simona Gavinelli and Elena Fontanella (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore). The series aims at publishing studies directed to the graphic production of a wide chronological spectrum, up to the so-called neographies. By means of a solid documentation it intends to contextualize the book and documentary production with respect to the influences and the circulation of the models, with prosopographical insights and diachronically examining the functionality of the objects and the relationship between extender, client and place of preservation. Graphic dynamisms imply precise communication strategies, often implemented by literate minority elites, religious or secular, in close connection with power. Therefore, investigating the distinct typologies (didactic, pastoral, practical or propagandistic) in the episodes of the manuscript tradition, beyond the immediate spatial-temporal limit, serves to thicken a tessellation capable of outlining the orientations and tastes of every age, with often unpredictable results.
