    Archeologia Classica is a journal founded in 1949 and it is edited by the Department of Classics of Sapienza – Universityof Rome. The journal contains articles in Italian and foreign languages (English, French, Spanish and German) by Authors of various nationalities from the academic and research world, museums and institutions involved in the cultural heritage protection.

    The journal covers a wide range of fields in Archaeology, History and Art History of the Etruscan-italic, Greek and Roman societies, from the Proto-historic period up to Late Antiquity, which are investigated through archaeological, epigraphic, literary and iconographic sources. Furthermore, it is distinguished for the attention to the History of Archeology. The journal is divided in three sections: articles, notes and discussions, and book reviews. At the end of each volume, a list of received books is provided.

    Archeologia Classica is published annually in October. It is a class A journal according to the ANVUR classification system: The articles submitted by the Authors are first examined by the journal’s Scientific Direction and then anonymously reviewed by two experts in the field, in all to comply with peer-review criteria.

    The journal is indexed in: Scopus, ERIHPlus, CARHUS Plus+ 2018, L'Année philologique, MLA - Modern Language Association Database, IBZ Online, Periodicals Index Online , CNKI, DIALNET.

    Archeologia Classica is a Class A journal according to the ANVUR classification system (ANVUR - Agenzia Nazionale di Valutazione del Sistema Universitario e della Ricerca - is the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research Systems.

    The rating of scientific journals is carried out by ANVUR for the purpose of calculating the indicators used for the National Scientific Habilitation, starting from 2012, and for the purpose of accreditation of PhD programmes (requirement A4.3), starting from the 32th cycle (academic year 2017-18). The relevant legislation introduced journal ratings only for the scientific fields identified as “not bibliometric” (that is, where citation analysis is not appropriate), namely: -Architecture (Area 08) -Antiquities, philology, literary studies, art history (Area 10)

    The articles submitted by the Authors are first analyzed by the Scientific Direction of the Journal and then reviewed anonymously by two experts in the field, in coherence with the international peer-review criteria.
