Le Isole fortunate

Il mito delle Isole Fortunate attraversa senza soluzione di continuità tremila anni di storia, da Omero a Ezra Pound, e il motivo del suo successo risiede nel fascino dell'idea di un luogo fisico dal carattere paradisiaco da cui sono banditi il dolore, la fatica e la morte. Lo studio analizza da un punto di vista storico, topografico e archeologico la fase antica del mito dimostrando che a partire dal V secolo a.C. esso fu riferito a luoghi fisici realmente esistenti.

The myth of the Fortunated Islands unfolds over a span of three thousand years of history, from Homer to Ezra Pound. The reason for its success lies in the charm of the idea of a paradisiacal, real and tangible site from which pain, fatigue, and death are banned. The study analyzes from the historical, topographic and archaeological point of view the ancient phenomena of the myth showing that from the fifth century BC onwards such a place was related to existing physical sites.
