The Aeneas of Dionysius of Halicarnassus is an alternative to Virgil's more famous hero. In his Roman Antiquities Dionysius revisits the events of the foundation of Rome, known from the Greek and Latin historiographic tradition, in function of his own Hellenocentric formulation: for him, Rome was, from its beginning, a Greek city.
