The very recent discovery of a votive deposit at Pelagosa Grande, with Attic pottery dating to the end of the 6th through the 5th centwy B.C. dedicated to Diomedes, in one case perhaps associated with Athena, suggests not only sharing the identification of Pelagosa with the island of Diomedea, proposed by the discoverers, but also reconsidering of the role of the island in relation to the routes travelled by Greek sailors to reach the Po delta and the upper Adriatic.
