Technical and stylistic analyses suggest that groups of incised glass with certain distinguishing characteristics differ from glass produced in Rome and along the Rhine. The geographical distribution and iconography may indicate that they come from the main centres of glass production of the Eastern Mediterranean, such as Tyre and Alexandria, whose role in the production of 4th-century incised glass is still uncertain.
