This paper presents several ‘historical’ inventories of the Archaeological National Museum of Neaples, essential for reconstructing the original contexts of the finds, especially as regards the collection of small bronzes. Goal of this work is the publication of the Catalogs of the Collection, one of which has been already published. The actual protagonists of the management of the Museum and the Excavation were in charge for each of these Inventories, including the General Inventory: in quick succession M. Arditi, F.M. Avellino, D. Spinelli Principe di S. Giorgio, and G. Fiorelli himself. The paper also reviews official laws and regulations that testify the interest of the Administrators for the conservation and knowledge of archaeological finds.
