Considering an analysis about the sources on the abolition of the collatio lustralis (a tax in gold and silver, also known as chrysargyron or auraria, instituted by Constantine and levied every five years on the negotiatores), it provides a record of the main characteristics of this tax through the Theodosian Code, to verify the report of Evagrio (Cedreno, Procopio, Prisciano, and some other ancient witnesses) with the constitution of Anastasio C. 11.1, and this one with the purpose of the Justinian’s compilators of the title de tollenda lustralis auri collatione.
