This essay aims to define planning strategies for the area between Porta Marina Nuova and the Suburban Baths in
the Insula Occidentalis of Pompeii.
The starting point is to improve the accessibility and reception of visitors to the site by establishing a new public
urban space in the area of the terrace above the excavation site. Linked to this issue is the crossing of the landscapepark
between the terrace and the borders of the ancient city, via a new and articulated connecting pathway. Another
connected aspect in this context is that of substituting the coverings of the Suburban Baths, to be seen as a visual
link between the compact ancient city and the external landscape of the Insula Occidentalis.
