In the study of Phlegraean bradisism some references of ancient authors have not been used so far. Particularly: 1) the passages
in Timaeus, in Lycophron, in Diodorus Siculus and in others for the formation of the dune between the sea and the so originated
Lucrinus lake, as index of the re-emergence in the archaic age; 2) that of the Liber Pontificalis (XXXIII, XXVII, 15) with the
reference to the “Insula Meseno”, in the 4th century AD as an index of the descending phase. Consequences of the late antique
submersion are also found in some Epistles of Symmachus and in epigraphic evidence: CIL X, 1690-1692. In addition to the
historical sources, archaeological traces of submersion have been identified along the coast from Cuma to Pozzuoli. A drastic
consequence of the sea submergence can perhaps be recognized on the reduced depictions of two of the late-ancient glass souvenirs
(those of Odemira and the Pilkington Museum) representing Puteoli.

Nello studio del bradisismo flegreo alcuni riferimenti di autori antichi non sono stati finora utilizzati. Particolarmente: 1)
quelli di Timeo, Licofrone, Diodoro e altri per la formazione della duna tra il mare e il così originato lago Lucrino, come indice
della riemersione in età arcaica; 2) quello del Liber Pontificalis (XXXIII, XXVII, 15) con il riferimento all’“Insula Meseno”, nel IV
sec. d.C. come indice della fase discendente. Riflessi della sommersione tardoantica si colgono anche in alcune epistole di Simmaco
ed in testimonianze epigrafiche, CIL X, 1690-1692. Tracce archeologiche della sommersione sono state identificate inoltre lungo
la costa da Cuma a Pozzuoli. Una drastica conseguenza della sommersione marina può forse riconoscersi sulle ridotte raffigurazioni
di due delle bottiglie-souvenirs di vetro tardo-antiche che rappresentano Puteoli (quelle di Odemira e del Pilkington Museum).
