The investigations carried out by the University of Basilicata in the area of the Sanctuary of Venus Fisica between 2004-2007 have
allowed to highlight some votive contexts, with different chronology and function, such as ex-vote or piacula (in sense of atonement or
consecration rites), providing a large amount of information on the development of liturgical practices. From these contexts, especially from
the discharges dating from the middle of the 2nd to the first half of the 1st century BC, there is a considerable variety of materials such as
metals, worked bone and stone foundations of architectural decoration and other building materials. However, black painted ware plays
a crucial role both in quantitative and morphological typology as well as on qualitative heterogeneity.
