Il volume presenta i risultati di una open call finalizzata a valorizzare lo studiolo dalla raffinata tappezzeria floreale, che ha ospitato a Villa d'Este per lunghi soggiorni Franz Liszt (1811-1886). Il genius loci della Villa e l'esperienza del musicista ungherese sono temi di confronto e di ispirazione per le quattordici proposte artistiche selezionate, presentate in una rassegna espositiva progettata per le sale patrizie del sito. Il progetto sonda pertanto le potenzialità espressive ambientali della carta da parati nel XXI secolo, quale medium antico e nuovo nel contempo, indagando il rinnovato rapporto che intercorre fra tradizione fabbrile, patrimonio culturale immateriale e creatività contemporanea.
Ferenc's rooms: wallpaper and new planning.
The volume presents the results of an open call aimed at valorising the small studio decorated by a sophisticated tapestry that hosted Franz Liszt during his extended stays in Villa d'Este. The genius loci of the Villa and the experience of the Hungarian musician are the themes inspiring the fourteen artistic proposals selected which were presented in an exhibition designed for the aristocratic rooms of the site. The project, therefore, explores the expressive environment potential of wallpaper in the 21st century, viewed as an ancient and new medium at the same time, investigating the renewed relationship between the handcrafted tradition, the immaterial cultural heritage and contemporary creativity.
