Il Mandracchio di San Benedetto del Tronto. Frammenti di storicità lungo la metropoli adriatica
In: U+D urbanform and design: 14, 2020
Tourism in the territories of the middle Adriatic still gravitates around the coastal strip; nonetheless, it begins to assume an exploratory essence. It is also directed towards authentic places different from the fictional space of the leisure industry. Territories and urban areas, previously abandoned or forgotten, inspire a new interest as guardians of an identity which challenges the building market homologation and speculative logic of the territory.
Historic villages, convents, abandoned urban areas where a connection with outdated productive specificities is still present, are transformed into attractors of the tourist phenomenon where it is possible to experiment new architectural and urban strategies aimed at enhancing the specific qualities of local places.
