This contribution provides a picture of the human occupation of the territory of Verucchio, in the south-western part of the Province of Rimini, from pre-protohistoric times to the Middle Ages. The data supporting this reconstruction were collected by the Authors during the research aimed at the elaboration of the Archaeological Map meant to be part of the 2015 variant of the Piano Strutturale Comunale (“Municipal Structural Plan”) of Verucchio, necessary to the drafting of the “Archaeological potential map ”.
Investigations started from the survey of bibliographic and archival sources, integrated with the data that emerged from the topographic surveys launched in 2011 as part of the “Survey activity in the Valmarecchia” project, conducted b
y the Institut für Archäologien, Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck and coordinated by prof. Alessandro Naso in agreement with the then
Archaeological Superintendence of Emilia-Romagna.

Il contributo presenta un quadro del popolamento dall’età pre-protostorica al Medioevo nel territorio di Verucchio, nel settore
sud-occidentale di Rimini, ricostruito grazie alle ricerche condotte per l’elaborazione della Carta Archeologica realizzata dalle autrici nell’ambito della Variante 2015 del Piano Strutturale Comunale di Verucchio, in funzione della redazione della “Carta delle potenzialità archeologiche”. Tali indagini hanno preso avvio da fonti bibliografiche e d’archivio, integrate con i dati emersi dalle ricognizioni topografiche avviate nel 2011 nell’ambito del progetto di “Survey activity in the Valmarecchia”, condotto dall’Institut für Archäologien, Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck, coordinato dal prof. Alessandro Naso, in accordo con l’allora Soprintendenza Archeologica dell’Emilia-Romagna.
