Indagini archeologiche nella necropoli di Cisterna Grande a Crustumerium: sepolture arcaiche e identità funerarie
In: Bullettino della Commissione Archeologica Comunale di Roma: 113, 2014
The Remembering the Dead project excavated at Cisterna Grande (Crustumerium, Rome, Italy) between 2004 and 2008. The project aimed at studying the funerary representations of a Latin community at a local level combining traditional and digital archaeological methods. The excavations revealed a group of tombs ranging from a Middle Orientalising tomba a loculo tipo Narce to Archaic chamber tombs, some with unusual features. The excavations revealed the existence of two different Archaic chamber types, showing similarities and dissimilarities between different centres in central Italy. This variability is interpreted as a sign of local and regional identities.
