This paper aims to analyze the features of the rural landscape in a section of the north-east Roman suburb, in the period between the 6th and the 5th century BC. Archaeological field surveys carried out from 1976 to 1997 allow us to understand the transformation of this area, which in the 6th century BC was probably part of the territory of the ancient Latin city of Crustumerium. On the grounds of a change occurring in rural settlements at the beginning of the 5th century, it is possible to suppose that a new site typology and a new political organization of space and boundaries took place.
