The denaro provisino of the Roman Senate is one of the most spread emissions in Central Italy between the end of the 12th and the beginning of the 15th century. Throughout this long period, the denaro provisino has experienced steady variations of its intrinsic value, as well as of its main iconographic and epigraphic features. It is therefore a complex emission, whose evolution has not been thoroughly reconstructed because of the scarseness of archaeological data. This paper adds one more hoard to the few known contexts. It has been found in Rome in the second half of the 19th century and is currently preserved in the Musei Capitolini. This hoard is particularly significant, not only because of its size (438 coins, including 435 denari provisini), but also in consideration of the diverse typologies of provisini.
