The recent excavation of the so-called villa 6 in Terzigno (NA) provides new data about ager Pompeianus. On this ancient district lack precise historical informations, and archaeological finds, however numerous, do not help to understand the evolution of regional planning and administrative boundaries.
This happens very often because of the specific characteristics of Vesuvian archaeology.
About colonization of Sulla in Pompeii the historical tradition is reticent, too. But there is no doubt that, in addition to a deductio, the adsignationes were preceded by divisiones of the fields. Available data would seem to direct our attention to a land division developed in the north and east of Pompeii, to the mountains of Sarno, including about 1600-1700 sortes, consistent with the number of settlers today assumed.
