A proposito di una statua nello Hüftmanteltypus al Museo Storico Archeologico dell'Antica Nola

In the approach to the archeology of Roman Nola it is greatly impressed by dating its ruins only to the Augustan age or to the third century A.D. or even late ancient age, points of great importance for the city, but not the only ones in its history. Therefore, in the Historical Archaeological Museum of Ancient Nola there is a statue in the Hüftmanteltypus of uncertain provenance (but certainly an important place), taken by Orso Orsini to the Nola city center in the second half of the 15th century. It is a marble male figure oversized, headless, probably portraying an emperor or a member of the imperial family and dating to the mid 1st century A.D. The reason of its creation and its real place of found remain still uncertain for lack of data. If we’ll can prove in the future that the statue was actually found in Nola, it would be an indication of a new moment in the history of the same city in Roman times.
