The study
of
the necropolis
of
Poggio Montana (Vetralla) sheds new light on the interior
of southern Etruria at the end
of
the 7th century B.C. The evidence reveals the existence
of
a remarkable centre, founded by some families belonging to a minor aristocracy, that belonged
to a crucial area for trade between the coastal area and the south through the Tiber Valley
and the Sacco and Liri valleys. The cultural features are close to those
of
Tarquinii, but
also recall from Bisenzio and especially from Veii and the Ager Faliscus.
Most interesting
are some links to the material culture
of
the Bologna area and Capua.
