An examination
of
archival documents, starting with L. Spada's notes, in the Biblioteca
Comunale in Osimo, and, even more so, the analysis and plotting
of
the preserved Roman
monuments provide valuable information about a generally neglected phase
of
the city
of
Numana.
In addition to the few remains in opus reticulatum and opus caementicium, visible in
the north-east sector
of
the modern town,
of
particular importance is the subterranean
aqueduct, in use until a few decades ago, which crossed Numana from Capo d'Acqua, south-west
of
Sirolo, to the port.
