The paper aims to summarize what is actually known about pottery production, and in particular amphoras, in Campania during the
Hellenistic and Roman period. Archaeometrical analysis have been carried on Campanian vessels since the ‘80s, but the lack of reference
groups makes very difficult to identify the production centers. The project “Immensa Aequora Fabrics Atlas - Roman Ceramic Production Sites and Shipwrecks of Tyrrhenian Italy” is conducting analysis and now we have more information about the group “Ischia/bay of Naples” for Greco-Italic amphoras, Sorrento and the Vesuvian area for Dressel 2-4, and northern Campania.
