The paper, beginning with the analysis of some new cases of reused amphoras recovered during the restoration works in the House of Pacuius Proculus, deals with the the secondary use of transport containers in Pompeii. Here some amphoras were reused in the triclinium to
permit the drainage of the floor, as also attested in the nearby House of Epidius Sabinus. In some cases amphoras were also used to transport
lime and mortar, used for the restoration works after the 62 AD earthquakes, or as gutter thanks to their elongated shape.
