The Libyan-Italian cooperation between the Center for Libyan Archives and Historical Studies (CLArHS), the Department of Antiquities of Libya (DoA) and the Archaeological Mission of Università Roma Tre

This short contribution reports the cooperation between the CLArHS, the DoA and the Università Roma Tre in the field of conservation and use of archival documentation. The first contact among the institutions began in Autumn 2018; in April 2019 a cooperation protocol was defined and signed. The framework recognises and outlines the project for the digitization of historical documents (1912-1969) initially produced by the Soprintendenza ai Monumenti e Scavi della Tripolitania (Superintendency of the Monuments and Excavations of Tripolitania) – from 1936 Soprintendenza alle Antichità della Libia (Superintendency of Antiquities of Libya) –, followed by the British Military Administration, and finally by the DoA. In 2007, these documents were transferred from their historical venue of the Red Castle in Tripoli to the CLArHS.
