Paderni e Winckelmann. Il Gabinetto numismatico: classificare, conservare ed esporre le monete antiche
In: Studi e Ricerche del Parco Archeologico di Pompei: 43, 2020
This research is based on the numismatic study of the Diario written by Camillo Paderni, Conservator at the Herculanense Museum. The manuscript is compared with other archival sources: it offers a path to the evaluation of the coin evidences from the excavations in the Vesuvian Area and in the Campi Flegraei. This paper explores the period between the first and the second of Winckelmann’s travel to Naples (1758, 1762).
