Until the end of the last century, the archaeological evidence dating to the Roman era at Riva del Garda (Trentino) was too sparse to suggest the presence of a proper settlement. Numerous and significant discoveries during the last 20 years shed light on many aspects of this site which, in Roman times, must have had the characteristics of a vicus. This work presents the data acquired
so far, with particular attention to Piazzale Pilati, the most significant context investigated to date at Riva del Garda. Here, a building complex has been investigated in almost all its extension, and the ancient baths (thermae) have been recognized.

Fino alla fine del secolo scorso le testimonianze archeologiche di epoca romana relative al sito di Riva del Garda (Trentino) erano rare e non tali da fare ipotizzare la presenza di un vero e proprio centro abitato. I numerosi e significativi rinvenimenti effettuati negli ultimi 20 anni hanno permesso di chiarire molti aspetti relativi a questo sito che, in età romana, doveva avere le caratteristiche proprie del vicus.
In questo lavoro vengono presentati i dati fino ad ora acquisiti, dedicando ampio spazio a quello che è stato il contesto più significativo indagato fino ad ora, quello di piazzale Pilati, l’unico complesso edilizio esplorato pressoché in tutta la sua estensione, e nel quale sono state riconosciute le antiche terme.
