Evaluation and Protection of the Excavations of the Southern Extension of the Balagrae Settlement (2013)

The article reports the discovery of a large, geometric mosaic floor found in 2013 in the area of Balagrae (modern al-Bayda). The site of the find is considered to be the southernmost section of the Balagrae settlement, where other archaeological evidence had been brought to light in 2009. The mosaic dates to the late Roman period, but the precise nature of the building it decorated has yet to be determined.
